UP UP AND AWAY!

Thanks Flight Lieutenant Woods for our super safe flight today!
What a great way to finish off our Science Investigations on Flight!
We've explored lots of theories about flight such as speed, thrust, aerodynamics and gravity.

Miss Woods brought in a propeller to investigate and she wore a real airforce jumpsuit from Wigram Airbase.  We watched take offs and landings on the Active Board plus we got to enjoy our own flight over Yaldhurst with drinks and snacks too Served by the attentive flight attendants Levi and Jake!

We created and made our own parachutes and kites and got to share them with our friends and whānau - Chocks away...

LEGO is Awesome!

Great working together in teams building,  creating and sharing our awesome stories. No limits with our enthusiasm!!!

Angel-Mey "It's nice and I made it with Paige and Stella. It's a castle"
Stella: "We made a Frozen Castle. The stairs are ice!"
Paige: "I made a castle with my friends.  I said to Stella I was the Boss because I started to make it! There was a floor on it and it sticks together!"

Devran: "It's a Minion Ship. Lots of Minions can go in! They can go in and out of ships they can go in and out of the water and fly! It can change into anything too like people!"

Levi: "It's a Jet Plane and it can go on water!"

Brayden: "It's a Star Wars ship. It has Storm Troopers and CP3O and a Robot Boy.  They are off to find Darth Vader their leader!"

Run, Run, as Fast as I Can...

Who doesn't love Gingerbread Men!
We have been using our Gingerbread Men in all sorts of enthusiastic and cool ways to help us measure and estimate and most definitely have fun - and not just in our Maths experiences!
Especially when it comes to baking our own friendship Gingerbread Men on NZ Anti Bullying Day.
We presented our biscuits to a friend, all wrapped up and ready to munch!
Yum, Yum in my tum...

Let's Go Shopping!

Today we visited the Mothers Day shop in the Wharehui. First we did some browsing and then we chose what we wanted to buy. The shop assistant Mrs Lattimore took our money. Then our purchases were bagged ready to take home. Our Mums are going to love their amazing presents! Thanks PTA for running the shop :-)

Getting Ready for Mothers Day

We have been secret squirrels busy preparing surprises for our Mums. We now need to keep everything secret until Sunday. Mum's the word!

Song of the Week - Term 2 Week 2 - Reach for the Stars!

Just do it!!!

Reach for the stars...

ICT in TK!

Yay! More i-Pads in Te Kākano and lots of great apps to share and explore!

Autumn Maths Continues...

...Following our cornflake leaves data collection yesterday, Angela suggested that we could take a look at the different sizes of leaves.

So we went this line of inquiry, went outdoors and collected 2 big leaves and 2 little leaves each, then had fun sorting them into tiny, little, medium and big leaves!

We were amazed that there were 12 tiny leaves but only 3 big ones and yet they were about level in height! Cool eh - we found out that size was very important today NOT how many or what colour!
