Fabulous First Week Fitness!

And strtech 1, 2, 3 and bend 1, 2, 3...

We have had a fabulous start back to term 3 this week.

We have all started our Winter Sports programme and we did our school Cross-Country!

We have warmed up - we have cooled down - we have felt our breathing get faster and slower and felt our heart speed up and slow down too!

Our teachers just said that we must 'Try our best - nothing less!'...

Look at us go!

Hitting the Right Note :)

WOW!!!

How lucky were we this week! CSO (Christchurch Symphony Orchestra) visited YMS to give us a taster of their amazing skills and talents.

They played, explained and even let us try playing their 'guest' instruments!

We got to listen to really famous pieces of music and learned about tempo, pitch and musical families such as the Brass family, String family and the Wind family!

Lots of us want to play an instrument when we grow up :)

Look at Our New Spaces!

Miss Lange and Mrs Tebbett have been busy moving the Library to the Whare hui.
Here is the Library in it's new spot.

During Term 3, Te Kakano are going to use their art, design, geometry and  measurement skills to make this space their own.

HERO for the Day? - HERO's EVERYday!

At YMS we pride ourselves in our school values of being Yaldhurst HERO's for life.

We celebrate being HERO's in so many ways.  Some days ya just gotta let the inner HERO out too...

Matariki in Te Kākano

Kia ora,

Kia pai tou tatou Matariki | Happy Matariki (Maori New Year) everyone!

He whētu koe ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - You are a star!

We have really enjoyed exploring Matariki in Te Kākano.

You can see from our photos that we have done lots of lovely things together!

The Matariki Breakfast was a massive hit with everyone trying something new from the buffet! Roast potato, kumara, carrot, pumpkin and golden yams! Ms Lange was ably supported in making some delicious Paroua bread - YUM all round!

We all LOVE Matariki - sharing is awesome :)
