Family Picnic 2015

We had such a great time at our annual Family Picnic at the Yaldhurst Domain.
We enjoyed the activities and our awesome PTA provided us with a sausage  sizzle which was delicious - thanks from everyone!
When we got back to school we had a special visitor who came with ice blocks to cool us down - Ho Ho Ho!

It's Almost Here...

Big shout out to Mr T who spent some of his Sunday preparing tinsel pom-poms for our class end of year assembly performance!

The work behind the scenes never stops but it's all worth it :-D

Fun at The Groynes :-)

The fun continues with a scavenger hunt - where are all the acorns? Are there any Oak trees here?

We also did leaf rubbings using 5 leaves, coloured Nature pictures in and then had fun together with the parachute,  balls, frisbees and on the adventure playground!

A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful whānau who gave up their time to come and support our class trip, it couldn't happen without you :)

Look at our Beetles Look at our Trees

This beetle has lost her friends and needs our help to hunt for them. Are they in the trees?

HERO's Every Day of the Week!

Thanks to our super photographer, Miss Blair, for capturing some great moments on our first HERO rewards afternoon.

Our four House Teams are:

Hillary  Edgar   Rutherford   Ormsby

These four houses are directly linked to our school values which are:

Healthy Individuals   Enthusiastic Learners   Responsible Citizens   Open-Minded Explorers

Each house met to decide which reward they wanted to aim for.  We decided that 200 HERO points was achievable and set to work!

Every 'House' pulled together to achieve their 200 house points goal.  Every time someone earned a HERO card for applying themselves to our superb school values it went into the HERO card box in the office ready to be counted on the next Friday.

Hey presto - here is the evidence :)

Working Together Whatever the Weather!

Check out our cool pictures of working collaboratively with our buddies!

It's so cool to share at school :)

Once Upon a Time on a Nursery Rhyme Assembly

There were three bears
Roar, Roar, Roar!...

Ka Pai Te Kākano - you were all amazing in Assembly today.  We are so proud of all your efforts and Mr Matthews did say in his opinion it was probably the best class item he had seen this year!

Enjoy the photos and watching the show (courtesy of Miss Carr's IT skills)...

Song of the Week - Term 4 Week 7 'Driving My Tractor'

Te Kākano children requested this so many times for Assembly - we just had to give in :)

Driving My Tractor - Toot! Toot!

Song of the Week for Term 4 Week 6 :) 'Irish Music'

Enjoy our fab Irish Tune!  Kick up your feet!
(Tune to follow...)

Irish Music

Grandad Murphy comes from Belfast,

Nana comes from Sligo Bay.

Though their hands are old and sore,

I love to hear them sing and play.

Di di diddle I diddle I di

Di di diddle I diddle I di

Di di diddle I diddle I di

Di di diddle I di.

Di di diddle I diddle I di

Di di diddle I diddle I di

Di di diddle I diddle I di

Di di diddle I di.

I love to hear them play the fiddle.

The whistle and the bodhran drum,

And though I love the rock and metal,

Irish Music’s much more fun.

I love to live in Aotearoa,

I love to have my friends at home,

But I’m saving up to go to Cork,

To kiss the old Blarney Stone.

Pet Day 2015 :) All Creatures Great and Small

You guys rock! Especially your brilliant 'Pet Rocks'!

We are so lucky as a small country school to have such great support from our local community businesses and organisations.  Yaldhurst Wools, Oderings, Selwyn Dog Agility and whānau all graciously gave their time to come and judge or officiate in one or more sections, we can not thank them enough for their continuing support :)

We had a fantastic Pet Day this year and saw a great range of wonderful pets, Home Baking and creative designs that you offered us.

The Sand Saucers were so fabulous - how creative you all are :)

The Veggie Sculptures were amazing and the judges were blown away with the level of entries!

The Home Baking was clearly a hit with the judges as lots of the entries had bites taken out of them!

We hosted 2-legged, 4-legged, furry, feathered, hairy, stuffed and solid rock pets!

It was wonderful to see all your pets and a massive well done to everyone who entered a class and to those who made a 'Hobby Horse' for the parade and races.

Can't wait for next year... enjoy our pictures and the Seniors You Tube photo-video from this link - PET DAY!
