Class Trip to the City!

WOW! We had the best time on our class trip together.

We all met up at the fabulous library 'Tūranga' and our guide, Andrea, took us on a tour behind the scenes where we saw Fuschia's books actually being returned by the robots!

We played with the LEGO, explored the castle, saw a robot demonstration and had a story time too!

Tūranga is awesome!  We can't wait to go again with our whānau!

We finished up at Tūranga and headed over to have our kai at the Margaret Mahy playground and then we spent the rest of our time exploring, investigating and playing together :)

Thank you to all the amazing whānau who came and made our day even more special!

School Trip to Town!

What a fantastic experience we had together visiting the newly refurbished Town Hall in Christchurch.

The whole school travelled together to watch the CSO (Christchurch Symphony Orchestra) perform 'The Big Bang' concert for us as well as 6 other schools too - they were amazing!

We all walked along the River Avon to the Margaret Mahy playground, enjoyed our lunch then had a fabulous play together until the buses came to collect us to return to school!

Thank you so much to all our whānau who were able to come and support on the day - you were awesome!

We also discussed that the Cheetah is the fastest creature on land clocked at 120kmh

Measurement is everywhere!!!

We have been focusing on measurement and measuring everything and anything!!!

We have been sorting to show if something is in order from smallest to biggest or shortest to longest!

Our maths language is super awesome too!

Taller - Shorter
Bigger - Smaller
Wider - Slimmer
Large, Larger, Largest
Big, Bigger, Biggest
Small, Smaller, Smallest
Tall, Taller, Tallest
Short, Shorter, Shortest

How awesome are we in Te Kākano! We can even sort ourselves from Shortest to Tallest!

We Are Scientists!

Science is EVERYWHERE!

We never stop asking questions to extend our learning and we love experimenting and investigating to find out more, more, more!

Predicting then exploring has been something we have really enjoyed doing together!

Did you know that predicting is like 'giving it your best guess'?

Now you're a scientist too!

Shake Out 2020!

National Shake Out at YMS! We were awesome of course!

Everyone up and down the nation shook together at 1.30pm!

We were all little turtles and did our Drop, Cover, Hold! 👏

When the bell rang, we walked outside safely and our teacher checked we were all here!

Did you take part???

Winter Fun Ice skating

What a fabulous day we all had at the Alpine Ice rink.

We had so much fun with our friends and whānau.

The coaches really looked after us in our lessons and we learned how to fall over safely and to move like Penguins across the ice!

We all want to come back with our whānau again please!
