Looking After our Insect Garden

At Camp Creepy Crawly we made and planted an insect garden. We are now learning how to take care of it. On Friday we set up the bumblebee nesting boxes and insect signs. We also watered our thirsty plants.

Measuring up

In Maths we have been learning about Measurement. We have been ordering from smallest to biggest and shortest to tallest. We have even made flowers that are the same height as us!
We are lining up to see how tall we are.
These are our flowers we made. Their stalks are the same height as us!

How to Draw a Tiger

We have been reading a book called "Elephant is Stuck". This afternoon we tried to draw some of the characters from the story. We drew a mouse and then we drew a tiger on our whiteboards. Here is instructions on how to draw a tiger...

My Name is MIne!

"Why do I need to know how to write my name Mrs T?"

"Because it is important to be able to read and write the name your whanau gave to you - it's yours!"

"Can you do it for me?"

"I could do it, but how will you learn to do it for yourself?"

"Well I had better do it for myself and try my best to get better at it!"

"What a great idea, why don't you show me then..."

"Nice work boys - way to go with learning to write your name!"

"Keep it up - try, try and try again - you will do it!"

Counting with Chalk!

Te Kakano are just loving working with Numbers!

We are learning to recognise numerals between 0 and 20 and starting to learn how to write them down properly!

Using chalks out on the playground is a cool way to do this and have fun and learn together with our friends!

We had been playing a numeral matching game in class before coming outside to make our marks so we used this knowledge to help us with this activity.

We tried really hard to write the numerals down in order and then we checked out each others work to offer encouragement and praise for great effort!

We are Math Heroes in New Entrants!

Big Swim 1

We had the best time ever at our Junior Big Swim for the Year 1 - 3's!

We had heaps of fun showing how confident we have become with our water skills over the past weeks :)

We played with noodles, ping pong balls, diving rings, body boards and all whilst listening to some great sounds!

A huge thanks to the brilliant swim tutors, who worked so hard to help us achieve our successes, and another big thanks to all the wonderful parents and whanau who have been invaluable at the pool side during our 'Swimtastic Time' this term :)

Water Fun!

We  have learned so much from the swimming tutors.  We have enjoyed our swimming lessons and we can move around the pool with confidence :-)

Ship Ahoy!

We were so pleased to have the chance to try on life jackets and have a turn in the boat!

The swimming instructors showed us how to huddle together to keep safe and warm in the water.

We loved the water train and had so much fun trying new experiences!

Te Kakano are all Healthy individuals who are Enthusiastic learners.  We acted Responsibly in the water and kept an Open mind about trying out new things!
