Mrs Wishy-Washy Writing

Kia ora,

Here in Te Kākano we have been reading an awesome Big Book called 'Mrs Wishy-Washy'.

We have been discussing how hard her job must be and would we like to do it?

Have you read it?

Well, Mrs Wishy-Washy lives on a farm with a cow, a pig and a duck.

They keep getting really dirty in the mud and Mrs Wishy-Washy has to scrub them in a tub to get them clean.

BUT...they go and get dirty again!  Poor Mrs Wishy-Washy!

We have actually created our own Mrs Wishy-Washy books so as authors and illustrators we have had to think about our stories from characters to problems to solutions.

Hope you like our writing display!

The Power of Flight!

We are working with our class buddies in Te Pihinga for our Technology unit and we have started to discuss flight this week!

What do we already know?

What do we want to find out more about? Thrust, Balance, Take Off, Direction and Downdraft!...

What are we making at home with our whānau?

Mrs T shared some 'How to make simple paper planes with your children' videos on Seesaw so we could practise together before we do it ourselves next week!

Lest we forget...Real Heroes from our own Whānau!

We are so proud of every brave soldier who gave their life then to ensure that we were safe and secure today!

Lots of our forces personnel sacrificed so much for our future generations and many did return home to their whānau always remembering the friends they lost in battle.

One of our class has one of those Great-Great Grandfathers who were incredibly brave and lived to tell the tale.  Mr David McCormick - 2nd Lieutenant, was a very brave man indeed.

He was a decorated soldier and his medals were brought in to class today to admire.

The Cross is called the 'Military Cross' and is awarded for extreme bravery.

Thank you for sharing these incredibly precious medals with us today.

Lest we forget...

ANZAC Day is very important because it is a chance for us all to remember the very brave soldiers who went to war to fight and did not come back home again.

They did this sacrifice so that we could be safe in our wonderful country - thank you.

We thought about you all when we made our field of poppies in class.
