Monarch Butterflies in Te Kakano

Who doesn’t love Monarch Butterflies!

We have been investigating the lifecycle of these amazing insects and we even got to watch a time lapse video showing the caterpillar turning into a cocoon and then the butterfly emerging from the cocoon - we were amazed!

How did it change? Where did it go? How did it fit in there?

So many cool Science questions from our youngest Scientists 🦋

  1. Hello,
Thank you for sharing about the lifecycle of a butterfly.
Can you tell us what a time lapse is?

  2. Kia ora Koromiko, thank you for your kind comment.

A time lapse video is when something is recorded whilst it is happening and then the recorder speeds up the film so it does not take so long to watch it!

    They are great!

    Have you watched any yet???

  4. Hi there TK, My name is Abby and I am a year 7 in your school.

That looked like it was lots of fun to do. Are you guys having fun learning about lots of new things?

This reminds me of the time I watched a video of one hatching.

Next time you could include a short clip of the butterfly video that you watched.

Are you guys having fun in your new class?
Are you guys excited to learn more about butterflys?

    Kind Regards,
    Abby.
