YMS Pet Day 2020

Ms Lange asked us on Monday, "So for most of you that was your first Pet Day.  What did you think about it?"

What TK2 had to say about Pet Day:

"It was fun being able to bring our pets to school," said Layla.

"It was cool making our pet rocks. I enjoyed using the paint and vivids," Carter thought.

"I loved putting flowers in my sand saucer, I really tried and it looked beautiful,"
added Emrin.

"I liked Pet Day because we got to bring our teddies. And we got to make pet rocks," answered Cyriss.

Lilly offered "It was interesting that we got to see a lot of different animals."

"People got to ride their horses and I loved the horses and it was really great that they came,"  replied Ollie.

"It was fun making sand saucers, we got to put flowers in them." commented Braxton.

Lynda brought Wes to school Pet Day.
He must have liked Braxton, because he gave him Lambie.

Casey and William agreed,  "We wished we came. It sounded great."

If you read carefully you might work out something else we have been talking about. Please comment below and if correct, we will let you know!

Mrs T and Mrs V loved our YMS Pet Day too and we asked what TK1 had to say about Pet Day:

We thought it was really great to bring our dogs, cats, guinea pigs and chooks for Pet Day! Agri-Sports was so much fun and it was good to do so many farm things! Pet Rocks and Sand Saucers were good fun to create too!

Gus: I loved doing the training with my dog 'Bilco' for Pet Day! I made a Pet rock too!

Darcy:  I loved taking 'Locksie' outdoors with me! Sack Jumping was fun!

Tiago: I loved looking after my little dog called 'Brown' The tractor tyres were enormous to roll!

Kayla: I loved taking my PJ bear outside - I liked milking the cow in my house team sports'

How to Be a YMS HERO

This term we have been revisiting what it we have learned about being a YMS HERO.

We have been watching some fun videos with important messages - thank you Sesame Street!

'Superman' and Elmo taught us about respect, this is part of the 'R' in HERO -  being responsible and respectful.

While we made ourselves pink t-shirts for Pink Shirt day ...

we talked about what it means to stand up for others,  when and how to be brave and do the right thing. We also discovered that people who bully often don't not feel good about themselves.

So we have been thinking about ourselves and how amazing we are.  When we have finished this work we will post it too.

This is our whakatauki from Week 2.

We are small but we are treasures with lots of talents.

Week 3's whakatauki was all bout the 'O' in HERO - being Open-minded, keeping on going even when it gets hard, which we thought would be really important on Friday for Athletics.
This Hikoi happened in October 1975.

We could also remember this when trying to be an Enthusiastic Learner.
When we learn something new it can be hard and frustrating.
We need to remember to keep trying, keep going and not give up!

What is something you have found hard to do but you kept on going and were successful?
Please tell us your stories.
