Alexis - The New Zealand Sign Language Expert

Mrs Royfee is always on the look out for an opportunity to share her knowledge of the New Zealand sign language with Akōnga.

Alexis was fascinated with learning some signs for the words that she had written during Literacy time on our Digi-Day and Mrs Royfee was only too pleased to help her with this - ka pai!

We used an i-Pad to record Alexis doing her brilliant signing as Mrs Royfee says the words for her!

Here are the words Alexis chose...

ten, old, look, six, in, this, like, come, ask, was, keep, yellow, help, the, cold, hot, on, kind.

Digi-Day! Blocks Away...

e-Learning is everywhere! NO escape!

We here at Yaldhurst Model School totally embrace the opportunities to Learn, Create and Share our e-awesomeness!

We had the chance to open our school today to invite our Whānau to come take a look at some of the superb things we do with our IT tools in Te Kākano everyday!

We encouraged our visitors to roam around the school learning environment to see for themselves great learning opportunities happening in the other classes - thank you to everyone for attending!

Enjoy...

Brayden is designing some great ghosts on 'Book Creator'.

Victoria and Addison watch on as Delilah and Renae have fun making a book together.

Travis and Rawiri enjoyed listening to and interacting with 'Is It an Earthquake' story.  A great story to follow up with after the National shakeout last week :)

Kane and Michaela are using their own details to logon to 'Maths Whizz' to work on their own accounts!

Liam and Laura worked alongside each other to create some fabulous homes for insects as part of our class inquiry - great job!

Aaliyah, Lucy and Mykiala showed their construction skills and co-operative skills working as a team to create bug hotels!

Jorja and Hana reassessed their construction and decided to alter it to make some great improvements - super skill!

Liam is showing his mum, Maria, how he can logon to Maths Whizz independently - Ka Pai!

Ben was really impressed with Sebastian and Travis's Bug House using the Lego bricks
 - wonder if there's a lift boys?

Brayden concentrates on his Maths whizz problem solving!

Wendy, Ben and Judy have some deep discussions with Connor and Travis about what curtains the insects might like in their box...

Logan was very impressed with how independent everyone was
- he didn't need to show anyone what to do.

Gemma explained EVERYTHING to Dad :)

Jorja and Brayden loved their time on the Book Creator because they got to use their own ideas and talk with Deb, our Librarian, and Dan, our Chair of Board of Trustees.
They were surprised at how much Te Kākano knew about ICT!

Jorja - "Da-da!".   Lara - "Voila!".  Hana -  "Finito!".
"Get it on the Blog Mrs T!"
What a great shot Deb - thanks!

Song of the Week - Term 4 - Week 2: "You're never fully dressed without a smile" :)

Welcome back to term 4 and a big thanks to Hannah for suggesting such a great song to start us off with :)

I believe you are never fully dressed without a smile and if you see someone without one, give them one of yours :)
